Fundraiser Ideas That Utilize Recycled Items
Why not combine fundraiser ideas with your concern for the environment. It is often easier to obtain used items to raise funds for your group or organization, so use this advantage to the maximum. Some of these ideas are very simple, some are more complicated. Feel free to use any and all to spark your creativity. In any fundraiser event you need to take into account who, will be the worker bees, and who will be contributing the funds. For example, if you have a group of children 5-9 years of age for your workers, do not hold a car wash, unless you like washing lots of cars, because they are not going to be up to the task. It would be a fine event for a teen group however. Also, consider your participants, the people contributing the funds. Are they more interested in the actual merchandise than your organization? If so, check out yard sale fundraiser ideas. Yard sale merchandise is easy to get your hands on and people know what to expect from a yard sale. Same with an online auction, people will participate if you have good merchandise regardless of the organization selling it. Are they more interested in contributing to your organization than the actual merchandise? If so, you will be “selling” entertainment. Live auctions, silent auctions and consignment shop fashion shows are all great options for this type of organization. You don’t need to limit your ideas to a particular type, you should be able to do any of them, just realize that you will be drawing from different pools of prospective donors.
Yard Sale Fundraiser Ideas
Most people are familiar with yard sales,
here are some ideas on how to refine it for a fund raising event.
Fundraising Auctions
You may want to add auctions to your fundraiser ideas list. There are three types of auctions that are commonly used in fundraising. They are, live, silent, and online auctions.
Live Auction Fundraiser Ideas
In a live auction, you have one-person act as the auctioneer. Each item is bid on individually until they have all been sold.

Silent Auction
In a silent auction, displays are set up for each item and a time is set for the closing. People bid by entering their name and bid amount on the bid sheet. At the close of the auction, the high bidder wins.
Visit the Silent Auction Page if you would like more information on this type of auction.
Online Auction
This is straightforward; you find someone that is proficient with eBay or another online auction and have them auction your items with the proceeds going to your charity.
Consignment Shop Fashion Shows
This fun idea can be either “dressed up” or “dressed down” depending on the type of organization is holding it. If this sounds intriguing,
visit the Consignment Shop Fashion Shows page for more information.
Flea Market - Craft Shows
The fund raising ideas behind this are that you do not actually sell merchandise, but sell booth space for others to do the selling. This works best if your organization has access to free space and you only need to add the labor to pull it off. Add a second profit center by running the concessions, hot dog stand, food booth, bake sale. A craft show does not necessarily qualify as recycled items, but enough crafters do use recycled that I thought it worth including. Besides items from flea markets and craft, shows do not come with all that hard to recycle packaging. For fundraiser ideas using newspaper and aluminum recycling visit the
